Hi again,
trying to set up the following:
university's Ethernet ---------+-------
|
o RS/6000 (fixed IP on Ethernet)
}
{ phone line (SLIP/PPP)
}
o home (no IP yet)
|
home Ethernet --------------+-----
the idea is to let the RS/6000 call back (phone cost...) for slip.
now, the initiation is obvious: call from home, start a batch job that
waits one minute and then dials back... but: what IP should home have?
should it be on the same subnet as the RS/6000, or is it better to create
an own domain for home?
Thanks for your time,
-Stephan
ObNeXTStepHack:
OmniWeb, a rather good W3 browser for NeXTstep, has been installed here with
a one-user license. With 40+ machines, you can't always fire it up when you'd
like to. However, it's licensing procedure is rather dumb - also showing the
code for the existing lincense. so: re-enter the lincense code, as soon as it
complains about the existing license, it's open... fire up any URL you want,
ignoring the window, then click 'ok' and you're done.
